Stone Town, because it boasts of more than 2000 thousand buildings which are all made of lime stone, with a huge African, Arab, Indian and colonial influence. Zanzibar as is Stone Town is a truly cosmopolitan and after a visit to the Anglican Cathedral (former slave market), House of wonders (national museum), the Africa House (former British club), the Old fort, old dispensary, Tipu Tip house and yes, the Freddy Mercury house and not to forget the feel in the streets of the old town, the bazaar full of coffee drinkers, and yes, the beautiful doors of Zanzibar, you too will bear witness that Stone town is a cultural crossroad and that it is worthy of the world heritage title.
Take time to explore the markets, it’s very colourful where piles of sea food and fish await buyers.
